A Monkey poking at the world..asking the questions

Life in the ring: Cuba through the Eyes of three kids…

Boy have we got it easy. People, including this monkey, are quick to say Australia is the best place in the world to live. I tend to agree wholeheartedly, but when you begin to realise that LIVING isn’t about cruising through life with the comfort of a couch, that in fact a rich life often involves suffering and compromise. One begins to realise that in Australia, sometimes we aren’t living at all.

As we fall into the clutches of mediocrity, we might question our existence and ponder . . . what is living? What sets my soul on fire and starts up that bonfire in my belly . . . the one that frees me from mediocrity.

Last week we looked into Cuban prostitution, this week its into Cuba’s youth boxing program, into the belly of Castro’s Cuba. Three kids, one goal. At the end of the day the two are not so different, both requiring you to put your body on the line for the dream of some kind of freedom and control in your life.

Look into these kid’s eyes and tell me that they don’t gleam with passion. Tell me that even though they are living in horrible conditions, under the thumb of a tyrant, that they are not LIVING.

It seems that the human soul requires the conditions of persecution to truly come alive.

Kung Fu Vs Karate for real [BRUTAL]… You’ll want to unwatch this and you’ll scream for justice.

KUNG FU VS KARATE…Unfortunately this isn’t Way of the Dragon, this is real life and it isn’t pretty.

The history of this video is a little bit dubious, but simply put, the Kung Fu guy is a homeless person. He was known around town as being mentally ill but not generally harmful to anybody. They invited him in for a demonstration and it is clear that he did not want to fight and is much smaller.

Here is a news report on it:

The karate guy was a police officer and his student an ex marine. Watch the way he switches on …I warn you, it’s pretty brutal and I wish I could un-watch it.

Why these guys were never convicted is beyond me.

http://www.justice4kungfuguy.com/ is a site devoted to catching the “Sensei”.

The Kung Fu Homeless guy lived, but people reported that his mental instability and likely his motor skills declined rapidly.

Real violence is not pretty.

The human condition is a brittle one…case in point.

Here is him talking to his blackbelts…pretty disturbing:

Scared Straight. Show your kids…They’ll either be terrified or laugh their ass off.

No this is not an article on the Church’s movement to rid the world of homosexuals through belief in christ. Will definitely touch on that in the future. I’m laughing just at the thought to be honest.

Scared Straight! is a 1978 documentary where a group of juvenile delinquents are scared shitless by real inmates. . A group of inmates known as the “lifers” berate, scream at, and terrify the young offenders in an attempt to “scare them straight” (hence the film’s title) so that those teenagers will avoid prison life.

It is honestly one of the most entertaining things I have ever seen. Show your kids! Educate them. They’ll either be scared straight or laugh their ass off.

Start here:

At 8 minutes, the con shows how a white boy becomes property. Then he sells him for a cigarette!? Amazing.

And where it all began:

The documentary aired on television in the late 1970s, uncensored; it marked the first time that the words “fuck” and “shit” were broadcast on many networks.

The cast include:

  • A drug dealer
  • A gang member
  • An arsonist and bomb builder
  • The son of a Mafia informant (Carlo Gallo)
  • 17-year-old chop shop parts dealer and car thief from the Bronx (Jesus Rodriguez).

The film ends with a “roll call” of the teens, revealing that most were “scared straight”, though a few were said to have reoffended.

Holy shit the possibilities!
